I Ate Hitler's Head

I always Google the names in my stories to make sure no one else has used them. I was about to release the game when I realized I'd forgotten to Google "Peg Leg Peggy." Much to my dismay, when I did check the name, it turned out it had been used before, not once, but twice -- in a song and a short story. So I scrambled to come up with a different name for my pirate. I decided to take the name of a real life pirate, Anne Bonny, and switch it around to "Bonny-Anne." I considered another real pirate, Grace O'Malley, before settling on Anne Bonny, and since there was no Grace in my story, Bonny-Anne's last name became Nograse. I also learned that the name of her ship, the Sea Bitch, had already been used.  So I changed my ship to the Queen Cwestalia, in honor of the main character in my most popular game.

Another narrow escape came when I described a Stuka dive bomber as having a terror siren in the nose spinner. Luckily I did more research and learned the sirens were mounted on the undercarriage, not the nose, and had little propellers of their own.

The radio transcript from the crash of the Hindenburg proved difficult because there are several slightly different versions of it, so I had to decide which parts of each version I would use.

This story took about 6 months to produce. I'm glad it's finally done.
